About the Artist

Unexpected glimpses of light and colour: late-afternoon light streaming through a window, a band of glowing white on the horizon between water and sky, plays of light and shadow from venetian blinds, compressed bands of intense colour seen from a plane window. All of these and more inspired my “Glow” monotypes.

I want to create a feeling of calm, a sense of the ethereal and a space you can get lost in - the heart of stillness.

Lorna Livey’s works on paper utilizing printmaking and mixed media have been exhibited in solo and group shows across Canada, including the Burnaby Art Gal-lery, Whitby’s Station Gallery and the New Brunswick museum in Saint John. Her work is included in many corporate and public collections, most recently Capital One and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Well-known as a teacher and Master Printmaker, Livey has worked with Open Studio, Inner City Angels, community arts groups and individual artists. She has also written and illustrated two travel memoirs.
