About the Artist

Sadko Hadzihasanovic’s artistic practice for almost 30 years, explores painting, drawing and mixed media through various subjects and topics. Since he moved to Canada from former Yugoslavia, he has been fascinated by pop culture and its effects on people’s lives. Hadzihasanovic’s work reflects upon the history of art and makes references to cultural diversities. With strong, but often humorous messages, he tries to comment on contemporary society and the state of the arts within.

Exploring different media as a means of expression, monotypes have become particularly interesting. In his research on monotypes he has discovered that the process of work is similar to that of a painting; the intensity of strokes, the use of color and the variety of lines. At the same time, the monotypes are incorporating printing processes that bring the results to another level. As Hadzihasanovic’s fascination with monotypes grew stronger, he has exhibited works at the Georgian College Campus Gallery in Barrie (2013) and at Pau Petro (2011).
